Philosophy

The Let's Talk Differently approach to creating a productive business and a productive workplace environment is a people-driven one. It is based on our core belief that a business can only reach its full potential if the needs of its employees are recognized, encompassed and responded to.

It is a simple idea, but if your employees feel valued, respected and supported, their work performance will reflect that and your business will grow.

"Bruce Perham has a rich background of experience and knowledge which is demonstrated though his excellent presentations and counselling sessions. Not only are these sessions appreciated by the participants but they also add value to the business by stimulating the motivation and performance of the employees thus supporting the achievement of the business objectives".

Services

Counselling

Counselling plays a critical role in supporting employees through personal and work related issues. Let’s Talk Differently can provide counselling/debriefing sessions at your workplace, in private rooms or, where appropriate, can visit your employee at home.

Let’s Talk Differently has provided an on-site counsellor for a number of employers. In the case of DHL, on-site counselling has been provided in their Melbourne and Sydney offices for the last 3 years. This service has been highly utilized by staff and has made seeking counselling a much easier process. When significant workplace situations arise, the counsellor can assist very effectively because of his knowledge of the company’s operations and culture. An on-site presence also facilitates the provision of consultancy advice to managers on how to approach complex staff situations.

Critical Incident Debriefing

There will be times in any workplace where ‘critical incidents’ occur that can have an immediate psychological impact on staff. This could be a workplace employee fatality or injury, death of a colleague through accident or health issues, redundancies and so on. In these situations, Let’s Talk Differently provides ‘psychological first aid’ which supports employees through the shock of the event. Let’s Talk Differently can also assess the psychological wellbeing of staff and arrange follow up psychological support for employees who may require it.

Workplace Consultancy

1. Business Welfare Check - are you providing a healthy psychological environment for your staff?

A business welfare check starts with a meeting with management to discuss potential areas of concern, the impact on the business and desired outcomes of the business welfare check. The next stage will generally involve individual interviews with staff and group discussions culminating in a report highlighting findings and, where appropriate, recommendations for action. A final meeting with management can then be held to develop and confirm an intervention strategy, if required.

2. Front Line Responders – psychologically supporting staff who work with people in high stress/trauma situations

There is an increasing awareness of the importance of providing an organisational culture that recognises the high stress/trauma situations that some staff work in and the necessity of providing appropriate, ongoing managerial and psychological support to those staff.

Let’s Talk Differently has developed a training program for managers that will assist them to establish a work place environment that will support their staff in the process of delivering services in these psychologically complex areas of work. In many workplace situations, the exposure to trauma is an ongoing part of the job and psychological support services need to be readily available. There is growing evidence that repeated exposure to trauma events in the workplace can lead to long term psychological harm. Managers need to be able to identify staff who may need support and have the skills to ensure that these staff are linked in to the available psychological support services.

Let’s Talk Differently has also developed a psycho-educational program for front line responders to better prepare them for the psychological reactions they may experience doing this type of work and the importance of having strategies for managing their reactions.

3. Training Programs - Full and Half Days

Training programs can be developed to meet the specific and identified needs of individual organisations and will not be generic, standardised training modules. The training approach is mixture of group interaction, overhead presentation and video material. Maximum group size is 15 people.

Training can be delivered on-site at your workplace or off-site at a CBD location.
