About Us
Bruce Perham is a Mental Health Social Worker, Family and Narrative Therapist. Bruce worked in the Not-for-Profit sector for more than 20 years. For the last 9 years Bruce has worked in private practice specialising in workplace relationships. He has worked part time with a large Employee Assistance Provider. This work has involved consulting with managers over 'people management issues', providing direct counselling to employees, and attending onsite critical incidents in a wide variety of workplaces.
In 1999/2000 Bruce completed the Graduate Diploma of Narrative Therapy at Dulwich, Adelaide. This meant many trips to Adelaide but was well worth it. The founder of Narrative Therapy, Michael White, became known all over the world for his very innovative approach to working with people in a counselling context. Bruce was very fortunate to have had this opportunity to train with Michael as, sadly, Michael passed away in April 2008 at age 59. Bruce will always be indebted to Michael for opening up the world of 'Narrative Thinking' to him.
It was early in 2012 that Bruce had the idea of bringing his narrative counselling skills, beliefs and ideas into the area of workplace relationships. What Bruce has developed in 'Let's Talk Differently' is a more comprehensive approach to managing workplace relationships. While maintaining the importance of counselling as a core service, he has developed training modules that provide extensive support to managers in dealing with the complexity of human behavior. In essence this approach truly recognises that your employees are your most valuable asset and treated 'humanely', will create a work environment that everyone can prosper in from the CEO down.
"Bruce Perham has delivered narrative training for my students participating in the postgraduate training in Applied Systems Theory and Family Therapy. He always receives excellent feedback. His grasp of Narrative Therapy is integrated totally and students find his gentle but informative style contributes significantly to their integration and confidence with Narrative Therapy."
"It is exciting to see Bruce combine his Narrative techniques with his extensive involvement in work place relationships in his new venture, Lets Talk Differently."
